The Human Rights Research and Advocacy Consortium is a group of 7 Afghan and 6 international NGOs committed to promoting peace and human rights in Afghanistan. This project is a unique initiative both for Afghanistan and for other countries emerging from conflict and insecurity. It brings together a group of organizations to systematically promote human rights through ongoing primary research, training and collective advocacy.

These organizations contributes a wealth of experience in the fields of humanitarian relief, reconstruction, human and women's rights, peace promotion, research and advocacy. The members include some of the most experienced and respected agencies working in Afghanistan today and the extensive programming experience of our members gives us unrivalled access to communities.

The Consortium is led by a Board of Principles that meets regularly to guide the overall strategic direction of projects and advocacy. It is staffed by a Secretariat, which is responsible for implementing the Board's ideas and projects. The Consortium's work is funded by members' contributions as well as funding received from key donors, including Novib, NZAID and USIP.
